SomaNews – May 2009
WELCOME!
Welcome to my new e-newsletter, SomaNews!
Spring is here and the seeds that were planted for this newsletter have sprouted. My hope is that the roots grow toward you to support the garden that you are cultivating.
Quick Somatic Practice
LIVING IN OUR BODIES
The privilege of a lifetime is being who you are.
–Joseph Campbell
Generally our lives are spent trying to be for everyone else and not who we are. To truly be on purpose you must be who you are. No matter what our minds want us to be or how to act, to have a body that can recognize those stories and change them is a true warrior.
Our minds are very important to us, but we forget the rest of us. Do we think our bodies are the transport for our heads? Why not incorporate your body and have much more opportunity to change and have choice. The body tells us much more if we listen.
Try this practice:
Stop right now
Bring your attention to your feet on the floor
Imagine energy moving down from your head through your body to your feet
Take a deep breath
Imagine the energy moving out your feet and into the earth, like roots from a tree
Notice how this has affected you.

About Strozzi Institute
Strozzi Institute, created by Dr. Richard Strozzi Heckler, is a destination for individuals and business leaders from around the world who come to hone their leadership skills, whether it is leading your life, a team or a company. I came to Strozzi Institute because I had done the work to know why I was the way I was but could not change. I had to change my body, my historical bodily reactions to life, then I could move forward. Strozzi did this for me, and I became a Master Somatic Coach in 2002.
